Long time between updates, slacker! Been a great year of doing more of the thing I love, playing music! Gigs, Studio Sessions, Lessons, its all great.

A bit late with an update! 2017 has been busy so far, gigs, sessions, and more gigs and sessions!
A trip to Bangkok with the Kuhtze band, Weddings and Corporates with Hands Off. Gigs with Greg Fleming, studio with Ben King, Eyreton Hall, Chris Sanders, and Hello Sailor legend Harry Lyon!
Been enjoying the new BareFaced Bass Big Baby 2 Bass cabs, so warm and clear sounding!
Been a while sine the last news update, been so busy, busy is normal!
Gigs, touring, studio, been doing a bit of everything.
Recorded an album with Mike Burrows, and another for Jonathan Densem, both challenging and satisfying projects.
Album release for Greg Fleming, tour with Greg Johnson, and heaps of gigs with Hands Off.
Looking forward to a small break over Christmas, the back into it. Got an album to do with Jan Hellriegel in the new year, Greg Fleming gigs, Hands Off gigs, trip to Bangkok with the Kuhtze Band. Looking forward to it all!
BASS BASS BASS! Been gigging a lot as per usual and also recording. Got two records booked to do before Christmas, but that may turn into four if schedules work out. Been playing with Jackie Clarke, Rikki Morris, Hands Off, Chet O'Connell, and The Lady Killers, plus some remote Bass sessions from home.
November sees Greg Johnson returning to NZ for four shows, nearly all sold out. We will be playing the entire "Here Comes the Caviar" album in the first half of the show, then a whole heap of favourites in the second half. Dunedin, Christchurch and two Auckland shows. Hitting the studio next week to record an album for my old mate Mike Burrows, Wayne Bell producing and Ben King playing guitar, going to be fun!
Later in October Greg Fleming's latest album drops, "To Hell with these streets". I'll be playing the launch gig at the Wine Cellar October 27th.
Been playing lots of gigs, Hands Off, Lady Killers, Jackie Clarke, Rikki Morris, and also with Ciarran Gribbin (lead singer from INXS). Recorded a new album with Greg Fleming, (tracked 9 songs in one day!) plus a couple of remote sessions at home, including another track for Chris Sanders for his new album.

Had great fun playing with Greg Johnson on his recent tour. Played at the Waiheke International Jazz Festival and opened for The Proclaimers in Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton and Auckland, such a great band and a super nice bunch to boot! Plenty of other gigs going on at the moment. Corporates and Pubs with Hands Off and Jackie Clarke, and a new album to record with Greg Fleming in the next few weeks. Gave my old Japanese Fender Jazz Bass a bit of much needed love, new pickups and pots, plus a good setup, sound amazing!
About to head off on tour with Greg Johnson, opening for the Proclaimers on their New Zealand tour. Tickets have nearly sold out, but you can get them here and here! The band is sounding great, playing Bass is awesome!

Been playing plenty of gigs so far this year, Pubs, Corporates, Weddings with Hands Off, Chet O'Connell and The LadyKillers. The trip to Bangkok was a great success, we were joined by Annie Crummer on stage, always a pleasure! Also been working on new material with Greg Fleming and the Working Poor for another album, as well as more studio stuff and remote Bass sessions from home.
Coming up are shows with Greg Johnson that will feature material from his new album "Swing the Lantern". Great to be super busy playing Bass!
Happy New Year. After a much needed break things are getting busy again. Recorded an Album with Eyreton Hall, had a few private function gigs, and some students to start the new year.
Heading to Bangkok next week with Hands Off for a Waitangi Day gig for the New Zealand Society Thialand, gonna be a fun trip!
Then back to NZ for more gigs, mainly weddings and functions for the next month or so, then a regular Friday at the Merchant Bar Albany with Hands Off.
Greg Johnson will be here in March, and so far there are half a dozen gigs with him I'll be playing on. Looking forward to that.
Been working on my Double Bass playing, so much fun and such a workout! Also got my Yamaha 6 String Bass back from being repaired, I love that thing, so good its even worth putting up with the jibes about having too many strings! Gene at G-Spot Guitars did a great job repairing it.
Gigs gigs and more gigs! Super busy lately playing pubs, corporate gigs and theatres with Hands Off and with The LadyKillers. Please a recording session or two and teaching Bass students as well.
As always, lots of interesting stuff happening. Recording a new album with Eyreton Hall over the summer, heading to Bangkok with Hands Off for Waitangi Day 2016, and a Greg Johnson Tour opening for The Proclaimers coming up in the new year also.

Been playing a heap of gigs in and out of town. Playing every week till the end of the year at the Merchant Bar Albany with Hands Off, plus a bunch of corporate and private events.
Thursday November 29th I'll be performing with Greg Fleming at the Tuning Fork Kiwi Country Pioneers gig.
Saturday October 31st I'll be with The Lady Killers feat. Annie Crummer at the Prospect in Howick this show has sold out. There are tickets available still for the two out West Lady Killers gigs November 6 and 7 at the Glen Eden Playhouse. Tickets are available from eventfinda.
Sunday November 1st I'll be playing with Eyreton Hall at Freida Margolis, 440 Richmond Rd.

Been playing gigs with The LadyKillers, and Eyreton Hall. Private Tim Finn gig tomorrow, another LadyKillers show Friday 31st in Howick. Then in the studio again to record a single with another local songwriter. Plus rehearsals for a couple of other projects, and a couple of Bass students in the mix too.
Double gig coming up August 7th at the Thirsty Dog with Greg Fleming and Eyreton Hall (Hey isn't that the same Bass player!). Greg Fleming new album sounds great and will be released on that date. Big congratulations to Eyreton Hall for having a song in the Silver Scroll Top 20!
Heard the mixes of the new Greg Johnson album that I played on in Los Angeles a couple of months ago, sounds amazing! That is currently getting mastered and will be out next month also.
After a nice holiday in Italy its been back into it. Gigs with Eyreton Hall, Bass lessons, upcoming gigs with the LadyKillers in Devonportand in Mt Eden, plus Tim Finn later in July. Two albums coming out shortly that I played Bass on too. One with Greg Fleming and another with Greg Johnson. Check out the previews.
Been a whirlwind month or so. Teaching Bass to a few private students, Gigs with Eyreton Hall, Greg Johnson, Greg Fleming and Chet O'Connell. Plus a trip to Los Angeles to record the new Greg Johnson album. I can totally recommend Stagg Street Studio in Van Nuys, Los Angeles. Its a great place to create music, and the people there are super nice folk! The new Greg Johnson album is gonna be a doozy. Got to play some nice grooves. Its due out in June and I can't wait to hear the finished album.
Greg Fleming also has an album due out soon. I love making records!
Got a couple of other cool projects coming up soon too, more news on those to come.
Music is such an awesome thing. I am so grateful that my love of Bass guitar has meant I get to meet and play music with amazing people in New Zealand and all over the world.
A number of exciting events coming up this month. Gigs with Eyreton Hall at the Matakana Markets, and at the Wine Cellar. Plus a run of shows with Greg Johnson at the Q Theatre and at the Albany Pub.
Next month I head off to Los Angeles to record a new album with Greg Johnson at Stagg Street Studios. Thank you Bass!
Got to meet and jam with Bakithi Kumalo the other night. He was in Auckland for the Paul Simon and Sting concert. He's been Paul Simon's Bass player for many years and he played on the Graceland album. Such a super nice dude and a groovy Bass player.
Heading to Christchurch this Friday, Waitangi Day for a gig with Eyreton Hall at the WunderBar in Lyttleton.

Also coming up is a tour with Greg Johnson, (click here for dates) and maybe a little overseas trip, fingers crossed for that one!

Been a busy few months with gigs and recording. Corporate and Pub cover gigs with Jackie Clarke, Rikki Morris, Mal McCallum and Mark Huckstep as well as gigs with Eyreton Hall and Greg Fleming. Looking forward to New Year's Eve at the Kings Arms with Eyreton Hall.
Playing Halloween at The Flying Moa Mt Wellington with Hands Off, 1st November at Rickshaw Eddies Mission Bay with Mark Huckstep and Mike Burrows, November 6th with Greg Fleming and the Working Poor at The Thirsty Dog K'Rd. And Eyreton Hall are launching their debut album Featherstitch at The Wine Cellar K'Rd on November 20th.

Been rehearsing up some new tunes with Greg Fleming and the band recently, looking forward to getting into the studio to record them!
Gig wise, recently I've been playing with Jan Hellriegel, and some covers with the Marks Brothers. Thursday this week I have a corporate gig with Melissa and Chet O'Connell, Patrick Kuhtze and Karl Benton. Friday is a gig with Greg Fleming at the Lucha Lounge in Newmarket with the band Hawkes and Doves, https://www.facebook.com/events/833321690018657/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming, and Saturday will be playing at a function at Mt Smart Stadium right after the Warriors game. Then teaching some students Sunday and Monday. Working on a little interesting project, but I'll save that news for a bit later!

Saturday April 12th I'll be with Greg Fleming at the Paddington bar in Parnell for the launch of his great new album "Forget the Past". The album sounds great, a mix of Bluesey - Country - Pop. I'm really happy to have been a part of it. Groovy as!

Sunday April 13th I'll be playing with Stormporter at the EcoFest in New Lynn. Starting at 12pm.
Then right after that I'll be at the Merchant Bar Albany playing some groovy tunes with the Marks Brothers. 3pm-6pm.
Easter Friday I'll be at the Waiheke Jazz Festival with Jan Hellriegel Kicking off at 1pm. There will be some new tunes along with some fan favourites and a slightly different band lineup too. Check out Jan's latest single "Bottom of my heart" on her website.
Easter Saturday I'm heading to the Sunny Hawkes Bay for a gig with NZ legends Jackie Clarke, Annie Crummer and Rikki Morris. We'll be at the Big Easy cycle ride playing classic Kiwi tunes.

Happy New Year! Lots of music to start the year. Gigs with Mark Huckstep and Mark Woods, yes three Marks! We are going by the name The Marks Brothers and playing some Sundays at The Merchant Bar in Albany Laid back groovy covers by the seat of the pants, great fun.
Been really busy ever since I got back from Wooten Woods. Recording, Gigs, Rehearsing, meeting and playing with different musicians, all good stuff!
Still finding time to do couple of hours practice each day, gotta keep up the daily maintenance!
Working on pre production still for Greg Fleming's new record which will start recording at The Lab in a couple of weeks. He has a great bunch of new songs that are really coming together.

Wooten Woods was an amazing experience, would recommend it to anyone thats want to get better at music and life!

Heading to Nashville this weekend for a 21 day Bass Camp at Wooten Woods. It's going to be a hell of an experience to learn from the likes of Victor Wooten, Chuck Rainey, Steve Bailey and Anthony Wellington. Can't wait to get there!
